Easter 2019 Part I: Paper egg

It's only March, but preparations for Easter Brunch are already taking place. A while ago I had a night when I couldn't sleep because I was thinking too much. So I went to the living room, put on a little light (hoping the fish would not wake up) and wrote my ideas into a notebook. Next morning I wake up and the notebook said Eastern was going to be bold using 3 colors: yellow (ochreous ), black and white! In todays blog you can already find a first item I am making to decorate the house. But I'm working on a lot more things. Check them out in the next posts... Supplies Instructions

Every year I am immersed in Chinese culture at my University, which has a very close relationship with China. Around Chinese Newyear the campus atrium is decorated with dozens of lanterns which is so beautiful! This was my inspiration to create my own crocheted lanterns. Have fun making them! DIY paper sheets

One day I had the tiny idea to make my own paper. I remember we once did it on a Friday afternoon when we had crafts in primary school, although I didn’t remember the technique anymore. I searched online and found out it shouldn’t be that hard because it’s just making a paper slurry and shaping it into paper. My mission: go to the shop and search my materials to make windows. Turn’s out I receive pretty good results using the craziest of supply materials. Here’s how I did it! What you need? To make the window: • barbeque grill mat • insect screen • duct tape Paper slurry: • water • old paper you want to recycle. For a uniform color choose paper without print, eg. egg cartons, paper shopping bags (cutout the shop logo),… It’s important not to choose glossy paper! • Blender • Any water tub that has at least the size of your windows and is preferably not too deep. • A sponge • A towel How to make a win...

Laundry day in the fishtank

I decided to buy a fish tank with two ordinary goldfish that are now called Victor and Vero. In my opinion the best pet for a creative person like me. I now have a living decorative element! How to dress up your fish tank?   1. Think of a theme. Is there a special time of the year like Easter, Christmas, Halloween or a birthday party? But also quiet periods of the year can be fun to come up with a surprising, funny theme. Here are some possibilities:  • A room from the house like the bedroom, bathroom, garage or even the attic. •A public place like a grocery store, magazine kiosk, vegetable stall or even he church or doctor’s practice. • A country you would like to visit. There possibilities are endless! For more inspiration take a look at my Pinterest page .  2. Take a paper that’s big enough to cover the backside of your tank and cut it to size. At this moment you can have a look at the composition of your drawing. Do you have ro...
